Cheltenham’s NAP: BLAZING KHAL | 3:30pm Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) | Dom’s Pick
A trappy encounter in the penultimate contest of the opening day of the November Meeting but the vote goes to Charles Byrnes’ Irish raider, whose Galway form was well franked earlier this week.
He was a fair horse in bumpers but couldn’t have won his hurdles debut any more takingly and there could be more to come with this sort of trip and test sure to suit.
Gordon Elliot’s horses are in good nick so Off Your Rocco must enter calculations, with Gelino Bello another to keep onside.
NB: SKATMAN | 1:10pm Markel Insurance Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
The son of Mustameet cost a handsome fee before failing to meet market expectations on his Ascot debut in November 2019.
However, that was a hot race and he’s won both of his starts over hurdles since, beating some very good rivals in the process.
The second and third from his Newton Abbot win have both gone in since, so that nice form boost could put him well ahead of his mark of 122, particularly with Lorcan Williams claiming 3lb.
