Champion Chase heroine Put The Kettle On is set to return to action over fences on the weekend, with the seven-year-old currently holding an entry in the Grade 2 PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park.
The mare is set to make her first start since finishing fourth in the Celebration Chase at Sandown back in April, with Aidan Coleman pencilled in to take the ride in County Kilkenny.
She was just one of the stars hailing from Henry de Bromhead’s yard at last season’s Cheltenham Festival, as she helped the trainer claimed a landmark triple success in the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and the Gold Cup.
The Stowaway mare has made only one start in her native Ireland since winning the Arkle Trial back in November 2019, with her last success on home soil coming in a novice chase at Wexford in the September of that year.
Talking to the Racing Post, De Bromhead has already laid out his plans for Put The Kettle On should Saturday go to plan.
“She seems to be in great form and everything has gone to plan since she came back in from her summer holidays.
“We’re hoping to start her back there as long as the ground is suitable.
“The plan is for Aidan to come over and ride. She’s obviously a mare who has a very good record at Cheltenham and something like the Shloer could work again this season.”
