The Cheltenham Festival ante-post series heads into the final day of the four-day meeting, kicking off with the Albert Barlett Novices’ Hurdle.

The three-mile contest has seen the likes of Minella Indo and Monkfish claim success in recent years and is considered to be a potential breeding ground for future Gold Cup winners.

Our team have taken a look through the possible entrants and have made their picks for the contest come March.

Here are three selections to add to your Albert Bartlett estimations for next year’s Festival.

STAGE STAR (20/1 – bet365)

An intriguing gelding from Paul Nicholls’ yard, Stage Star could well thrive over three miles in the upcoming season.

The five-year-old struck on debut back in October, winning comfortably in a bumper at Chepstow before finding a few rivals just good for him in Listed and Graded company at Ascot and Aintree.

The gelding’s pedigree holds some interest as well, as his dam (Sparky May) claimed Graded success over 2m7f and his half-brother (Lanspark) has won over the three-mile distance.

Stage Star could be effective over the Albert Bartlett trip, with his price of 20/1 holding some value currently.

CLASSIC GETAWAY (25/1 – bet365)

An Irish point-to-point winner, Classic Getaway could well be a solid contender for this contest come March.

Trainer Willie Mullins after Turban won the Underwriting Exchange Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Steeplechase at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ratoath, Ireland.
Willie Mullins’ Classic Getaway could be targeted for the Albert Bartlett

The five-year-old has garnered much hype since his debut back in May, annihilating his rivals in a 2m4f bumper at Tipperary.

The gelding is a very exciting prospect and he could well develop into a top-class talent under Willie Mullins.

It is unclear which race Classic Getaway will target at this stage, but his price of 25/1 for the Albert Bartlett is very appealing.

JOURNEY WITH ME (25/1 – bet365)

Another Irish point-to-point winner, Journey With Me could well perform over three miles this season for Henry De Bromhead.

The gelding flew away from his rivals on his sole point start, before hacking up in a 2m2f bumper at Gowran Park back in March.

The five-year-old’s pedigree does suggest that two and a half miles is optimum for him, but he could well be more of a stayer than some of his relatives.

With a price of 25/1, Journey With Me could be one to watch for this contest.
