ALLEGORIE DE VASSY: Leading 2022 Festival contender to miss the remainder of National Hunt season
Rich Ricci’s Allegorie De Vassy will not be on the ferry to Cheltenham later this month
The Willie Mullins-trained Allegorie De Vassy has suffered a setback and will miss this year’s Cheltenham Festival, the Closutton chief has confirmed.
The 5-year-old, by No Risk At All, won the Solerina at Fairyhouse when last seen, overcoming stable-mate Brandy Love who is now favourite for the Cheltenham Grade 2, but an injury in her hock means she will not be travelling to Gloucestershire.
Mullins confirmed to the Racing Post: “Allegorie De Vassy has got a slab fracture in her hock and will miss the rest of this season, unfortunately.”
The County Carlow yard dominates the market for the Thursday contest, with Dinoblue also expected to feature here, while Gordon Elliot may saddle Party Central for a drop back in trip, although her best form is over further.
Dan Skelton confirmed earlier in the week that leading British hope and Champion Bumper third, Elle Est Belle, would bypass the event in favour of Aintree.
She remains around an 8-1 shot, but said in the aftermath of her recent Huntingdon glory: “I’ve got to talk to the owners and they will do what we think is best, but my first instinct is to wait for Aintree.”
