Last season’s Coral Cup runner-up stayed on well in the closing stages, seeing off Declan Queally’s The Getaway Star by five lengths.

Following that success, the seven-year-old was trimmed from 20/1 to 16/1 for the Mares’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival while holding the latter price for the Coral Cup.

Black Tears has a creditable Cheltenham Festival record, finishing fourth and second in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and Coral Cup, respectively

An interesting Pertemps Final Qualifier Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown kicked up some further festival clues for punters.

Atlantic Shore was an impressive winner of this contest, but trainer Philip Fenton stated that the eight-year-old will not be making the trip across the Irish Sea.

Market favourite Milliner ran a strong race in third, which saw his price for the Pertemps Final Hurdle cut from 20/1 to 16/1.

Dermot Weld’s Dalton Highway, who finished fourth, saw his price for the same contest trimmed from 33/1 to 25/1.
