Cheltenham Racecourse has three enclosures open during The Cheltenham Festival. Access to these depends on the type of ticket you purchase to enter the venue.
The Club Enclosure and The Tattersalls Enclosure offer a grandstand view of the horses thundering around the track, although some people prefer the head-on view of the home-straight The Best Mates Enclosure provides.
All enclosures at Cheltenham Racecourse are positioned and designed to give great views of the action, so maybe other variables may affect your decision more, such as distance from the Parade Ring, particular shops, restaurants or The Guinness Village.
To help you decide which is right for you during your visit to Cheltenham Racecourse, here’s a rundown of each enclosure and what delights they have to offer:
Best Mate Enclosure
The Best Mate enclosure is the most affordable, price-effective way of viewing the excellent races at The Cheltenham Festival.
Positioned adjacent to The Grandstand, The Best mate Enclosure boasts exceptional views of the course while offering easy access to bars, food stalls and betting facilities.
This option is perfect for those that want to dive into the deep end on a budget and cheer on their favoured horses right from the heart of the action.
During The Cheltenham Festival, The Best Mate Enclosure also offers live music from bands and DJs throughout the day from the Party In The Pavilion live music venue.
Food and Drink
A Best Mate Enclosure ticket gives you access to a number of bars and food outlets:
- Desert Orchid Restaurant – combining breathtaking panoramic views with fantastic food.
- Dawn Run
- The Pavilion Bar – located at The Pavilion Restaurant, a popular, traditional option for Cheltenham Festival racegoers.
- Jim’s Real Ale Bar
- Mobile food caterers offering fish and chips, burgers, toasties and hot beverages.
A ticket to this enclosure gives you access through the Best Mate gates at the south of the venue only. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed before returning to the enclosure.
The Tattersalls Enclosure provides the perfect middle ground between the Best Mate Enclosure and The Club Enclosure.
As well as access to a variety of food and drink options, this enclosure allows guests to mingle amongst the action in the Parade Ring before heading up to the steps of The Grandstand for a first-rate view of the races as they unfold.
A Tattersalls Enclosure ticket gives access to a vast selection of race viewing options, including views from opposite the finishing line, side views of the final furlong and the final fence, and access to The Grandstand if the weather’s typically British.
Tattersalls Enclosure ticket holders also gain access to various other beneficial areas between races, including the Pre-parade ring, the Parade Ring and the winner’s enclosure.
For a small break from the racing action, guests can also venture out to The Tented Village, The Guinness Village, The Shopping Village, the live music venues and more.
