Dan and Harry Skelton landed a double on Wednesday afternoon, as Emma Lavelle’s Manofthemountain landed the Silver Trophy under Tom Bellamy.
Fergal O’Brien ensured he was two away from a century for Ravenswell Farm as Ask Dillon secured a local success, while Nicky Henderson’s Hooper brought proceedings to a close on day one with victory under Ben Davis.
We’ve got our best four best of the day with another Daily Lucky 15 as the penultimate race fixture for the season at the Home Of Jumps Racing nears closer.
Alan King’s mare has some solid course form to her name, finishing fifth and eighth in the Champion Bumper, respectively.
She ran a cracker in the Grade 2 Dawn Run here at the Festival last month, with Thursday rival Martello Sky a fair way behind her that day.
Well in at the weights with a couple of these, the increase in trip looks no immediate negative and it’d take a pretty decent case to oppose here.
The daughter of Great Pretender took another step forward when when taking a Grade 2 at Newbury last month and she gets more than a stone in weight from market principal Eglantine Du Seuil.
Her second to the aforementioned The Glancing Queen looks the best form in the race this season and she could just be one to keep on the right side with further progress a big possibility now switch to handicaps.
Katy Price’s 10-year-old continues to tumble down the weights and is now on a mark of 111.
She has finished second in nine of her 24 starts, so is an ultra-consistent and perhaps the stiffer track and trip here may suit the Milan mare.
Although well behind Dr Richard Newland’s Whatsdastory at Taunton in January, there has been a 14lbs overturn in the handicap and she may well be one to watch with a bit of each-way value.
Brian Hughes landed a Gloucestershire winner on Wednesday and he may well have another here with Mark Walford’s northern raider.
She is off a career-high mark of 119 but hasn’t done a lot wrong this season, never finishing out of the frame in six starts and winning three.
Northern Beau won over course-and-distance from a 1lbs lower mark in December 2019, but is turning into a bit of a flattener and may be worth taking on, alongside Paul Nicholls’ Cut The Mustard.
