DOLCITA: 2020 Festival runner-up could make late Mares’ Chase bid on Thursday
Dolcita could put herself into the Mares’ Chase reckoning in a cracking midweek Thurles card
Former Mares’ Novice Hurdle runner-up Dolcita features on Thursday afternoon’s card at Thurles as she remains a prominent figure in the betting for this year’s Cheltenham Festival renewal.
The 7-year-old had spells with Paul Nicholls and Fergal O’Brien briefly but has returned to Closutton, recording a second career success when last seen at Fairyhouse earlier this month.
She is currently best priced at 50/1 for the second running of the Friday event in Gloucestershire.
Old box rival and foe Concertista currently heads the market for the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase, the penultimate contest of the week at Prestbury Park next month, while the yard are also armed with Elimay who scored at Navan recently and finished second in the race last year.
In County Tipperary, however, the daughter of Saint Des Saints will have to overturn her Naas form with Gavin Cromwell’s Jeremys Flame, while Minella Melody carries some solid form over timber into this sphere.
Elsewhere on the card, there is Grade 3 action in the Markaye Contracts Ltd Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle.
Mullins and Paul Townend are well represented again in the form of Berkshire Royal, with Gordon Elliot declaring The Goffer who partners Davy Russell.
