High Sheriff – 5.10 Perth (18/1 – bet365)

Due to Newton Abbot being abandoned, today’s each-way bet is now at Perth in the form of Kenny Johnson’s new recruit in the 2m4f maiden hurdle.

High Sheriff was bought by Johnson Racing for a total of 12,000gns at the Tattersalls Online March Sale and makes his stable debut here for his new yard.

Could Hymn And A Prayer get off the mark for Fiona Shaw at Newton Abbot?

The seven-year-old showed some promise on his first start over hurdles in February, finishing fourth of 17 in a 1m7½f maiden hurdle at Naas at the huge price of 150/1.

He is stepped up in trip here, with his pedigree suggesting that he should be more competitive over this distance and the gelding has the added bonus of a 7lb claimer booked in.

With a current price of 18/1, High Sheriff could prove to be each-way value in this contest.
