Following on from their Champion Bumper duel at Prestbury Park last month, Willie Mullins pair Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit are set to clash again at the Punchestown Festival this Wednesday.
Cheveley Park’s Sir Gerhard maintained his unbeaten start thus far with a front-running masterclass in the finale on day two of the Cheltenham Festival.
Stable-mate Kilcruit, meanwhile, chased him home after his freak performance at Leopardstown back in February.
Patrick Mullins will not be on his back this week, however, having opted for the former Denise Foster trained son of Jeremy in the Grade 1 ITM – Supporting Irish Store Sales Champion I.N.H. Flat Race.
Closutton also saddles Ramillies, who finished eighth in Gloucestershire.
Handler Mullins told Racing TV: “I think the track might suit Kilcruit better, so we’ll see. It’ll be different and worth watching anyway.”
Day two of the Punchestown Festival gets underway at 3:40pm on Wednesday afternoon, with three Grade 1’s taking place across the card.
