The April Meeting

Just a matter of a few weeks after The Festival has concluded, the horses come thundering back down the final straight at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The atmospheric buzz is yet to deplete and doesn’t take long for excitement levels to reach pinnacle levels with the first featured race of the two-day occasion taking place just two races into the event.

The fixtures can never compare to those of The Festival, yet crowds still flock into Cheltenham in their thousands and replicate the pulsating atmosphere as if The Cheltenham Festival never ended.

The April Meeting hosts a total of fourteen races split across two seven racecards on each of the two days with a mixture of Hurdles and Steeple Chases.

The second races of each of the two days are the featured races. The Day One featured race is The Cure Parkinson’s and Hambo Foundation Silver Trophy Steeple Chase. This is a limited handicap, grade 1, class 2, which begins at 14:40. The Day Two featured race is The EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase Finale, a class 1 listed Steeple Chase that also begins at 14:40.

The 2021 edition of The April Meeting is scheduled to take place from Wednesday the 14th to Thursday the 15th April.

Day One

Day One of The April Meeting takes place on Wednesday the 14th April 2021 at Cheltenham Racecourse. It consists of 7 fixtures on the racecard with a mixture of Hurdles and Steeplechases. The second race of the day is the featured race of this racecard and it is The Cure Parkinson’s and Hambo Foundation Silver Trophy Steeple Chase beginning at 14:40.

The CITIPOST Novices’ Hurdle Race

The primary race of The April Meeting, The CITIPOST Novices’ Hurdle Race, commences at 14:05. This Hurdle race is two miles and four and a half furlongs in length.

The Cure Parkinson’s and Hambo Foundation Silver Trophy Steeple Chase

Race two of Day One of The April Meeting is The Cure Parkinson’s and Hambo Foundation Silver Trophy Steeple Chase which begins at 14:40. This Class 1 listed Steeple Chase is two miles and five furlongs long.

This is the first featured race of the event and will have some excellent offers and promotions from the bookies.

The Kingston Stud Supporting Greatwood Handicap Hurdle Race

Race number three of Day One at The April Meeting is The Kingston Stud Supporting Greatwood Handicap Hurdle Race. Commencing at 15:15, this Hurdle race stretches two miles and four and a half furlongs.

The Arkells Brewery Nicholson Holman Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeple Chase

At 15:50 and halfway through Day One comes The Arkells Brewery Nicholson Holman Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeple Chase. Day One of The April Meeting is now in full swing as the horses set off for this three-mile and one and a half furlong Steeple Chase.

The Safran Landing Systems Handicap Hurdle Race

Race four of the 2021 April Meeting is The Safran Landing Systems Handicap Hurdle Race. This Hurdle race stretches 3 miles of Cheltenham Racecourse and commences at 16:25.

The Weatherite Handicap Steeple Chase

The penultimate race of Day One at The Cheltenham April Meeting is The Weatherite Handicap Steeple Chase. Beginning at 17:00, this fantastic Steeple Chase measures approximately two miles and two furlongs.

The Cheltenham Pony Racing Authority Graduates Handicap Hurdle Race

The final race of Day One is The Cheltenham Pony Racing Authority Graduates Handicap Hurdle Race. This Class 3 Hurdle race is two miles and one furlong in length, starting at 17:30. The final race of the day always lures a new tier of excitement from the grandstand.

Day Two

Day Two of The April Meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday the 15th April 2021 at Cheltenham Racecourse. Just like Day One, it consists of seven racing fixtures with the second of the day being the featured race.

The Glide Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Race

The first race of Day Two is The Glide Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Race. Kicking off at 14:05, this Class 1 listed Hurdle race is two miles and four and a quarter furlongs long, allowing plenty of time for the day’s hysteria to build.

The EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase Finale

The Day Two featured race at The April Meeting 2021 will be The EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase Finale. Commencing at 14:40, this Class 1 listed Steeple Chase stretches two miles and five furlongs around Cheltenham Racecourse.

The Catesby Estates Plc Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race

Following the Day Two April Meeting featured race is The Catesby Estates Plc Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race. Beginning at 15:15, the thoroughbreds will storm around two miles and four and a half furlongs of Cheltenham’s racecourse to bring Day Two to its half-way point.

The JRL Group Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase

Halfway through day two is the 15:50 JRL Group Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase, spanning a length of three miles and two furlongs.

The Spinal Injuries Association Remembering Mark Vestey Fillies’ Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Race

At 16:25 is the Class 1, grade 3 Spinal Injuries Association Remembering Mark Vestey Fillies’ Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Race. This race is two miles and one furlong in length around Cheltenham Racecourse.

The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase

Warming up Cheltenham’s world-class venue for the final race of The April Meeting is The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase. Taking place at 16:55, this particular race is about 2 miles long.

The Spreadex Sports Betting Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race

The final race of The April Meeting always brings an aura of elation. The Spreadex Sports Betting Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race takes place at 17:30 on Day Two and is an NH Flat Race with a distance of two miles and one furlong.
