Tiny Tantrum – 7.20 Southwell (16/1 – Various)
After showing promise on his three bumper starts, Tiny Tantrum makes his debut over obstacles in a Novices’ Hurdle at Southwell this evening.
Lucy Wadham’s gelding responded well when coming off the bridle to finish third at Huntingdon on his first run under rules and was closing on the leading pair, with the line approaching just too soon for him.
He can be excused for his last run as it did come on the all-weather and the five-year-old could show further improvement here in the step up in trip.
His pedigree suggests he should stay the 2m4f distance, with his sire Fame And Glory winning the Ascot Gold Cup on the flat while his dam (Sara’s Smile) was a minimum distance hurdle winner with her half-sister (Stormyisland Ahead) claiming victories between two to three miles.
He faces a seriously tough competitor in No Ordinary Joe, but Tiny Tantrum could sneak into the places with a cracking price of 16/1.
