After the wider and racing world were saddened to learn of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip, on Friday afternoon, we reflect on Sunshade’s Royal win at Cheltenham two years ago.

His Royal Highness was aged 99 and is said to have died peacefully at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

With the April Meeting only a few days away, we relive Sunshade’s win at the fixture for The Queen under Nico de Boinville two years ago.

Trained by Nicky Henderson, it was the mare’s fourth career success and her most recent racecourse appearance to date in the Listed Catesby Estates PLC Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.

The 2021 renewal of the two-day April Meeting gets underway on Wednesday 14th April.
