The team are back with another Mark The Card feature, this time looking at Saturday’s Jumps Finale Day at Sandown.

Here are their best selections from each of the seven races on offer at the Surrey course.

1:50 –  bet365 Novices’ Championship Final Handicap Hurdle

A wide open handicap to get things going at Sandown.

WHIZZ KID wasn’t able to justify favouritism at Aintree last time out, but he has only been bumped up by 1lb in the ratings and should prefer the quicker ground on show today.

While this race is hot, it’s a tad less competitive than his last outing and he could well make the frame here.

BOOMBAWN holds some each-way value in this contest, with his mark remaining the same following his success at Ffos Las earlier in the month. His front-running tactics could suit him at this course and with a 5lb claimer in the saddle, he could well be competitive here.

ALTO ALTO holds some interest on his handicap debut and could push for a place.

2:25 – bet365 Oaksey Chase (Grade 2)

A disappointing turnout for the Oaksey Chase, but remains competitive to say the least.

My vote goes to SAINT CALVADOS who makes his fourth outing under the guidance of Paul Nicholls.

Paul Nicholls will aim for Oaksey Chase success at Sandown with Saint Calvados

A former Graded winner, the nine-year-old produced a respectable effort in the King George over Christmas before finishing fifth in the Marsh Chase at Aintree.

He clearly holds some ability and if the gelding can rediscover the previous form, he should strike in this company.

3:00 – bet365 Celebration Chase (Grade 1)

While only five runners in the Celebration Chase, there are two standout contenders in the form of Nube Negra and GREANETEEN. I’m going to side with the latter here, with his convincing win in the Tingle Creek back in December holding some interest.

The quicker ground on offer is right up his street and he should bounce back here.

ROUGE VIF has had a wind operation as of late and if he can rediscover his previous form, he could run well at a big price.

3:32 – bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

A competitive renewal of the bet365 Gold Cup. A race that has plenty of value scattered through, MUSICAL SLAVE could well be one to note from Phillip Hobbs’ yard.

The trainer knows what it takes to win this race and while the nine-year-old has question marks over him on the suitability of the ground, he could well stay the trip and looks to be at a very threatening mark.

Christian Williams Trainer Fontwell
Christian Williams has three runners in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown

The chase circuit is known to have benefitted front runners in the past and it could be worth taking a chance on HEWICK. The gelding has to tackle a career-high mark here but the ground is in his favour and he cruised to success in the Durham National back in October.

National runner DOMAINE DE L’ISLE could produce a big effort at a nice price, with the gelding 4lbs below his last winning mark and should benefit with Brian Hughes in the saddle.

4:07 – bet365 Select Hurdle (Grade 2)

A small field of four features in the Select Hurdle, with SCARAMANGA looking the best option of the group at Sandown.

The seven-year-old finished way off the pace in the Cesarewitch on the flat in October, but he was strong over hurdles last season and he looks the best on paper if he returns on song.

4:40 - bet365 Josh Gifford Novices' Handicap Chase

A contest which holds some interesting sorts, FLIC OU VOYOU could be overpriced here.

The gelding carries some course form and he looks at a workable mark here, with the better ground falling into his favour as well.

BRIEF AMBITION could put up a big race as well, with his recent form showing some promise.

5:15 - bet365 Handicap Hurdle

A deep field to round off a cracking card at Sandown. HALO DES OBEAUX reverts back to hurdles following his fall over fences and remains at an interesting mark for his connections and while he will need to prove himself in these better conditions, he could well have more to offer.

BEYOND THE CLOUDS does hold each-way claims and looks a danger back over the small obstacles, but he has the difficult task of top-weight.

CHAMPAGNE COURT also looks interesting at a double-figure price.
