LOCK’S CORNER (6/1) holds favouritism in the contest for Jonjo O’Neill after making substantial progress in handicap company.
The seven-year-old has seen his rating rise by a whopping 30lbs since last August and he has won four of his six starts over fences.
This is his toughest assignment to date, but he has shown his capability in defying the ratings in the last 12 months.
LANDOFSMILES (13/2) kept on strongly in the late stages to win the Perth Gold Cup and he could well combat his 5lb rise here for Peter Bowen.
The eight-year-old has claimed success in four of his last five starts and has proven to be a real talent in handicaps over the extended three miles.
He will be a tough nut to crack and the gelding could well be in the winners’ enclosure yet again.
SOLOMON GREY (8/1) produced a solid performance to finish second in the Staffordshire Plate last month and he could strike at his current mark.
However, the trip is a question mark for the nine-year-old and he will need to prove his stamina over this distance.
TALKISCHEAP (9/1) will be aiming to go one better after finishing second in the Perth Gold Cup for Alan King, while Martin Keighley’s BACK ON THE LASH (10/1) will be looking to land his third success over fences in four starts.
PSYCHEDELIC ROCK (10/1) was a fortunate winner at Kempton following Versatility’s fall at the final fence last month for Ian Williams, while the well-travelled FOX PRO (14/1) lines up under Jane Williams.
Katy Price’s MINELLACELEBRATION (14/1) landed this contest last season and is only 3lbs higher in the rating and STORM HOME (16/1) will be hoping to shed his maiden tag over fences for Colin Tizzard.
WILLIAM OF ORANGE (16/1) sits at a winnable mark for Mark Walford, while Nick Mitchell’s COUP DE PINCEAU (18/1) has claimed three of his four chase successes with Harry Cobden in the saddle.
TOPOFTHECOTSWOLD (18/1) is stepped back up in trip after his fifth-place finish in the Clarke Chase last month, while PYM (25/1) makes his stable debut for new trainer Oliver Greenall.
Chris Gordon’s MELLOW BEN (20/1), Nicky Richards’ CHIDSWELL (33/1) and Charlie Longsdon’s LITTLE BRUCE (66/1) complete the Summer Cup line-up at Uttoxeter.
– Landofsmiles @ 13/2
– Coup De Pinceau E/W @ 18/1
