Wetherby’s NAP: WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF | 3:23pm Bobby Renton Handicap Chase | Dom’s Pick
Phillip Kirby’s charge didn’t fare all that bad on his debut season as a chaser, only finishing out of the places on two occasions from six outings.
He was an isolated third at Ayr on his last start but this looks a far easier contest to fare in and he’s off the same mark when he won his Catterick affair in March, this time in handicap company.
Clearly not in the grips of the handicapper, however, he has gone well fresh in the past and makes plenty of appeal as an unexposed type.
NB: ACROSS THE LINE | 4:33pm Peter Beaumont Memorial Handicap Chase
Dan Skelton’s Fame And Glory six-year-old carries some decent form from last season into his first campaign over fences and it’s interesting that he’s thrown straight into a handicap.
His Taunton fourth is particularly strong and suggests that an opening mark of 124 may not overwhelm him with the capable hands of Harry Skelton in the saddle.
Prince Escalus had a run as a chaser under his belt at Market Rasen last month and ranks as chief threat.
